    Detail Itinerary

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. On this day, a detailed trek briefing is conducted including route overview, restricted area permits, conservation permits, gear check, and final preparation for this remote expedition.

Early morning flight to Bhadrapur followed by a long but scenic drive through eastern Nepal’s hills and villages to reach Taplejung, the starting point of the trek. Overnight stay in a local lodge.

We travel by jeep or begin trekking along rural trails depending on road conditions. The route follows river valleys, small settlements, and terraced hillsides before reaching Sekathum, where the trekking section becomes more defined.

We officially begin trekking through narrow trails along the Ghunsa Khola. The path includes suspension bridges, waterfalls, and dense forest as we gradually ascend to Amjilosa, marking the true entry into the Kanchenjunga trekking region.

The trail climbs steadily through bamboo forests, rhododendron, and rocky ridges. The terrain is varied with forested paths and occasional open views before reaching Gyabla, a small settlement surrounded by natural beauty.

We continue ascending through forests and open valleys. The trail gradually becomes more alpine as we reach Ghunsa, a traditional Sherpa village with monasteries, prayer flags, and a strong Tibetan cultural influence.

A full acclimatization day in Ghunsa. Short hikes to nearby viewpoints are arranged to help the body adjust to altitude. You can also explore the village, visit the local monastery, and experience the culture and lifestyle of the Sherpa community.
We trek through alpine landscapes with views of glaciers and high peaks. The trail passes through landslide-prone sections and open terrain before reaching Khambachen, a remote settlement surrounded by mountains.
The trail continues through rugged and glacial terrain with increasing altitude. Vegetation becomes sparse as we approach Lhonak, a high-altitude campsite with dramatic mountain views.
A highlight of the trek as we hike to Pang Pema, the North Base Camp of Kanchenjunga. The area offers spectacular views of Kanchenjunga and surrounding peaks. After exploration, we return to Lhonak for overnight stay.
We begin descending back through Khambachen and along the glacial valley, returning to Ghunsa. The descent provides a welcome drop in altitude and a chance to revisit familiar landscapes.
We cross high passes in the Sele La region, offering panoramic views of Himalayan peaks. The trail then descends into glacial terrain towards Tseram, a remote and scenic campsite.
We continue towards the southern side of Kanchenjunga, trekking through alpine meadows and glacial valleys. We reach Ramche or Oktang area, close to the South Base Camp region.
A full exploration day in the South Base Camp region. Enjoy close-up views of Kanchenjunga, glaciers, and surrounding peaks. This day is dedicated to rest, photography, and experiencing the remote high-altitude environment.
We begin descending from the high alpine region through forests and valleys. The trail leads to Tortong, where the environment becomes greener and more vegetated.
The trek continues through forest trails and villages as we descend further. Yamphudin is a culturally rich village inhabited by diverse ethnic communities.
We follow trails through hills, farmland, and rural settlements. The route gradually transitions from mountainous terrain to lower hill landscapes, reaching Chitre or a similar village.
We descend into the beautiful tea-growing region of Ilam, known for its rolling green hills and tea estates. The landscape here contrasts sharply with the high mountains visited earlier in the trek.
A short journey through tea gardens and scenic hills towards Kanyam or onward towards Bhadrapur depending on road conditions and logistics. This day offers a relaxed transition back to lower altitude.
We drive to Bhadrapur and take a flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel and rest after completing the trek.
This day is kept as a buffer for travel delays or for rest. It can also be used for sightseeing, shopping, or final departure depending on your international flight schedule.
