Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. A detailed briefing will be conducted covering the trek route, Lower Dolpo permits, Shey Phoksundo National Park entry, gear check, logistics, and safety preparation for the journey.
We take a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then connect to a mountain flight to Juphal. Upon arrival, final preparations are completed before the trek begins.
The trek starts with a descent from Juphal, following the Thuli Bheri River through terraced fields and small settlements. We reach Dunai, the administrative center of Dolpo.
We enter Shey Phoksundo National Park and follow forested trails along the river. The route passes through small villages and gradually ascends to Chhepka.
We continue through pine forests and rocky trails, gradually climbing to reach the spectacular Phoksundo Lake. We stay near Ringmo village, known for its traditional lifestyle and Tibetan cultural influence.
A full acclimatization day at Phoksundo Lake. You can explore Ringmo village, walk along the lakeside, and visit local monasteries while adjusting to the altitude.
We trek along remote alpine trails leading towards Shey Gompa, also known as the Crystal Monastery. This sacred site is an important spiritual center in Dolpo.
We begin ascending towards the Numa La region, gaining altitude through barren landscapes and high ridges. The terrain becomes more rugged as we prepare for the upcoming high pass crossing.
We cross the challenging Numa La Pass, one of the highest points of the trek. After enjoying panoramic mountain views, we descend into a remote valley on the other side.
The trail continues descending through alpine terrain into lower valleys. We reach a remote village such as Tokyu, known for its traditional culture and monasteries.
We continue towards Dho Tarap, one of the largest and most culturally significant villages in Dolpo, surrounded by wide open valley landscapes.
A relaxed day exploring the Tarap Valley. We walk through nearby villages, interact with locals, and experience the unique culture and lifestyle of this remote region.
We descend along an old trade route following the river valley to Tarakot, a historic village with ancient fort remains and traditional houses.
The trail continues along riverbanks and villages as we gradually make our way back toward the Juphal region.
Final trekking section back towards Juphal. Depending on pace and conditions, we either reach Juphal or stay at a nearby camp or village.
We take a morning flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj. Transfer to hotel and rest after completing the trekking journey.
Flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation or short exploration.
These days are reserved as buffer days for weather delays, especially in remote flight regions. They can also be used for rest, sightseeing, or optional cultural tours in Kathmandu Valley.
