Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our team will welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. On this day, we conduct a full gear check and detailed briefing covering the Mustang region, restricted area permits, route conditions, weather, safety, and preparation for the journey ahead.
We travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara by flight or drive. Pokhara is a relaxed lakeside city with beautiful views of the Annapurna range. The rest of the day is free for rest, preparation, or short walks around the lake.
Early morning flight to Jomsom, followed by a trek or drive to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is the gateway to Upper Mustang, where the landscape begins to shift into a dry, desert-like Himalayan terrain with strong cultural Tibetan influence.
We officially enter the restricted Mustang region after permit checks. The trail follows the Kali Gandaki valley, passing through dry riverbeds, cliffs, and small settlements. We gradually ascend to Chele, a quiet village surrounded by dramatic landscapes.
Today’s trek includes crossing ridges and passes with stunning views of barren hills and distant snow peaks. The trail passes ancient chortens, caves, and narrow valleys before reaching Geling, a traditional village with monasteries and stone houses.
We continue through high desert terrain and culturally rich landscapes. The route passes mani walls, ancient monasteries, and open valleys. We reach Charang, known for its fortress-like village structure and historic monastery.
A scenic and culturally significant day as we enter the walled city of Lo Manthang, the capital of Upper Mustang. The trail offers wide open desert scenery and distant Himalayan views before arriving at this historic city.
Today is dedicated to exploring Lo Manthang and nearby cultural sites. We visit Tingkhar village, Namgyal Gompa, and the royal palace area. This day offers deep insight into Tibetan Buddhist traditions, ancient architecture, and the preserved lifestyle of the region.
We begin our return journey, leaving Lo Manthang behind. The trail passes through high desert landscapes, wind-carved cliffs, and ancient routes. We descend gradually to Drakmar, a village known for its striking red cliffs.
We continue descending through remote valleys and high passes. The landscape slowly changes as we move away from the walled kingdom area. We reach Shyangboche for overnight stay in a peaceful mountain setting.
The trek continues downward through dramatic cliffs, caves, and river valleys. We re-enter more familiar lower Mustang landscapes and reach Chhusang, a scenic village along the Kali Gandaki river.
We trek from Chhusang to Jomsom, marking the completion of the Mustang trekking route. From Jomsom, we take a flight to Pokhara. The rest of the day is free for relaxation by the lakeside.
A free day in Pokhara for relaxation or optional activities such as boating on Phewa Lake, visiting viewpoints, or enjoying cafes and lakeside walks.
We return to Kathmandu by flight or drive. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free for shopping, rest, or sightseeing.
